Arpád Soltész at the Festival Quais du Polar in Lyon

Slovak participation at the 17th edition of the International Literary Festival Quais du Polar (2-4 July 2021) in French Lyon 

Slovak journalist and author Arpád Soltész whose two books have been translated into French - Le Bal des porcs (Sviňa/Swine, translator: Barbora Faure, Agullo Éditions 2020) and Il était une fois dans l´Est (Mäso. Vtedy na východe/Flesh, translator: Barbora Faure, Agullo Éditions 2019) - will be guest at various events of the festival. The festival focuses on the genres of crime and thriller. It offers panels with authors, meetings with professionals from the literary world, conferences, networking, and much more. 

Arpád Soltész will participate, together with French authors and jounalists Thomas Cantaloube and Lionel Froissard, in the panel titled Raisons d'etat (State Interests) on Saturday July 3rd 2021. The panel will be hosted by Gladys Marivat, a journalist from Le Monde and it will tackle the following topics: murder of a journalist, death of Princess Diana and the abuse of gaullistic power during collonialism.

On Sunday, July 4th, the panel titled L´Europe en mutatation (The Transformations of Europe) takes place. Arpád Soltész will appear alongside the French author and screen writer Caryl Férey, the Croation author, screen writer and journalist Juric Papavić, and French journalist Olivier Turc. Michel Abescat will lead the discussion focused on: economic globalization, migration flows, rise of nationalism and the weakening of Democratic models, depiction of criminality in literature and media, and what are the forces shaking up the continent inside and out of the Union.
