Paweł Pieniążek at Visegrad Literary Residency in Bratislava

In 2021, thanks to the Visegrad Literary Residency, eight authors will once again have the opportunity to spend six or twelve weeks in a peaceful inspiring setting where they can fully concentrate on their writing. The shorter, spring edition of the program was moved from May to July due to the pandemics. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our residents in Bratislava for this special summer residency. We are be introducing all four residents on our website.

Paweł Pieniążek is a journalist and author of books of reportage that cover events in conflict areas around the world. He has brought news and book reportages from Afghanistan, Syria, Donbas and Armenia to audiences in his native Poland as well as abroad. In his next book, he wants to continue delving into themes connected to war conflicts. This time, however, he would like to concentrate on people -- families and communities -- who for different reasons stayed home during the raging fights. He has many recorded interviews from war zones that he had brought and that he wants to transform into book form during his residency in Bratislava.

We do hope that Paweł Pieniążek, together with the rest of the Visegrad residents, will have an inspiring creative stay in Bratislava.
