The Calvert Journal asked writers, poets, translators, and academics to pick 100 of the best books from Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia available in English. From Belgrade to Bishkek, these works of literature span across cultures, borders, and time.

The Calvert Journal was launched in March 2013. Today, the Journal claims to be the world’s leading publication for culture, innovation, photography and travel in the New East. With an editorial team based in Somerset House, London, and a network of regional contributors from Warsaw to Vladivostok, the Journal seeks to bring context and insight to the places, people and creative projects of the region.
