Curriculum vitae

Alexandra Kovaľčuk is a translator of Slovak literature into Ukrainian. She studies Slovak language at the Department of Slavonic philologies of the Faculty of Philology of thIvan Franko National University of Lviv, where she graduated in 2008. She is a freelance translator, translating into Ukrainian and Russian, and aside from Slovak also from Czech and Slovenian. In cooperation with film institutes, she has translated several Slovak feature and short films (Slnko v sieti, Čiara, Pehavý Max a strašidlá, Slovensko 2.0), and she also collaborated on the organization of the film festival Slovenský Focus in Lviv (2014). She regularly collaborates with the festivals Authors' Reading Month in Lviv (since 2015) and Book Forum Lviv (since 2009). She is an artistic translator, host and interpreter during discussions and panels with Slovak authors. She has translated the works by Balla, Mária Ferenčuhová, Erik Šimšík, Michal Tallo and others into Ukrainian.
