Erika Vályi Horváth translates contemporary Slovak and German literature into Hungarian. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava. 20 of her translations have been published in book form, and she also participated in 8 anthologies. Until 2017, she worked as an editor of the daily Új Szó, since then, she is a freelance writer, translator of literary prose and literary science, a book editor, as well as a literary therapist focused on children. She promotes contemporary Central European literature. In 2020, the Literary Fund awarded her the Imre Madách prize for her translation of Svetlana Žuchová's Yesim into Hungarian; she was given the premium Imre Madách prize twice, for her translation of U. Kovalyk' Travesztia show – 2008, and I. Dobrakovová's: Halál a családban – 2015.
Her translations appear in the most most prestigious literary magazines in Hungary (Lettre, Jelenkor, Litera, SzlávTextus), Slovakia (Irodalmi Szemle, Kalligram) and Romania (Helikon, Látó).
She is an active member of the Translation Salon of the Hungarian Institute in Budapest, and her books are presented at the Internationl Book Fair in Budapest.
