Curriculum vitae

Ines Šebesta was born in Berlin. In the 1980-s she has studied gardening in Bulgaria (Plovdiv). As a student, she worked as an interpreter from Bulgarian; in 1990, she translated her first radio play for the NDR Radio. She is the author of three books. Since 2002, she has been focusing on literary translation from Bulgarian. In 2009, she had finished the courses Slovak Language and Slovak Literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She has been translating Slovak literature into German sice 2010. Among the authors whom she had translated are Pavol Rankov, Daniela Kapitaňová a Jana Juraňová. She has two grown daughters and lives in the vicinity of Berlin.
