Curriculum vitae

Magdalena Mullek holds a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Indiana University.  Her translations from the Slovak have appeared in TWO LINES, Words Without Borders, Slovak Literary ReviewB O D Y, and other journals.  Her recent publications include the children’s book The Escape by Marek Vadas (BRaK, 2018), and Pavol Rankov’s award-winning novel It Happened on the First of September (or Some Other Time) (Slavica Publishers, 2020).  She also co-curates the website SlovakLiterature.com with Julia Sherwood, with whom she edited Into the Spotlight, an anthology of contemporary Slovak fiction.  Magdalena lives with her husband and their daughter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Orlando, Florida, and Poprad, Slovakia.
