Reviews and praise

The book "I am not Afraid of Holidays" is written in a civil, conversational language, which means with traces of slang, especially in passages where they characterize not only the linguistic registers of a certain group of young people, but also their way of thinking and of reacting to the adult world. Characteristic is also the effort of the author makes to include the latest knowledge from archaeology to ecology.

Glocko's "A Rose for Jules Verne" offers the reader a real enjoyment, not only because of the extraordinary event (the persecution of Paracelsus and Verne, the unveiling of a secret), but also through describing details of life in Slovakia in the Middle Ages and in the second half of the 19th century. With Paracelsus burnt and revived, the magical rose found by Verne is a symbol of their mutual desire for justice. For the readers, Glocko's novel is an interesting expedition into the past.

It seems that Peter Glocko as the author of literature for children has matured and found his voice, the strictly circumscribed area of his activity. It is indeed quite likely that the support, which he has found in the depiction of the details of everyday life and in a realistic reproduction of language, added to a firm purpose - something that is always useful in children's literature - was beneficial for Glocko as an author.
