Curriculum vitae

Peter Šulej, a poet and fiction writer, was born in Banská Bystrica in 1967. He is the author of ten poetry books, two collections of short stories and three novels. He also wrote many independent studies and articles focused on contemporary art and literature. His work has been translated into various languages. He is the author of lyrics for alternative music projects, radio plays and concepts of contemporary dance performances (together with his wife, the choreographer Petra Fornayova).   

In 1994, he founded the Drewo a Srd publishing house which has since offered the Slovak readers numerous iconic works of Slovak and world literature. In 1999, he founded Vlna (Wave), a quarterly magazine for contemporary art and culture. Each issue focuses on a specific topic and publishes articles on the subject within the genres of literature, theatre, music, visual arts and dance. Peter Šulej was the co-founder and content director of Ars Poetica, an international poetry festival. In the recent years, he has been co-organising the international literary festival Novotvar, held each October in Bratislava. He lives in Bratislava, Slovakia.
