Prose writer and illustrator, Zuzana Šmatláková did a doctorate in literature and later taught for a year at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, South Korea. She is a four-time finalist in the Poviedka short story competition and author of the Exit (2013) short story collection for which she won the Tatra banka Foundation prize in the Young Author category. Her book has also been published in Romanian and individual texts from it translated into several other languages.
