Arleta, the heroine of this fragmentary narrative, realises that she is past the half point of her life. She has taken on many roles – as mother, wife, daughter, friend, writer. On the surface she is comfortable with all of them, but there are times when she can't help but feel overwhelmed. She becomes more and more determined to let go of the disguises, and discover the truth about herself.
