Carpathia

This prosaic debut describes the feelings of a man who is returning to his hometown in the eastern region of Slovakia. Carpathia is about the inhabitants of a specific space dividided by the borders of three states: Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine. Until recently, this area has been home to the ethnic group mostly called the Rusyns. The region of Carpathia is where the eastern and western civilizations meet and clash is what makes it colorful and ever-changing. In the mountain passes, many dramatic fights took place during both world wars; the borders had been redrawn multiple times; religious conversions had been enforced. The author offers us a unique image of his homeland, of a world that is coming to its end and confronts it with what he finds walking around this no-man's land in the present day.
