Koža / Skin

Jana Bodnárová's most recent book has her trademark writing style but manages to bring something new to the table once again. The book's originality is connected to its topic as well as to its poetically reflexive rendition. Through the main character K., an artist in her own right, and through her fascination with the expressionist painter Paula Modersohn-Becker, Bodnárová manages to go deep under the skin of female creativity which had to do a lot of of balansing between the private and the public after WWI, searching for new a artistic expression and for the "new woman." The visual artist Pavlína Fichta Čierna adds a contemporary perspective to the book.
