In this book, the author Anna Grusková uncovers a relationship between the literary historian Dr. Alžbeta Gwerková-Göllnerová and the painter Edmund Gwerk from Banská Štiavnica. The almost forgotten story from the middle of the 20th century is set within the narrator's own holiday in Banská Štiavnica during the covid pandemic. Searching in archives, museums, libraries, private collections, talking to witnesses and female academics, she investigates the reasons for the tragic fate of Alžbeta Gwerková during the Second World War. The portrait of a "modern woman", a pioneer of democracy in Slovakia, is gradually coming to life right in the town of Banská Štiavnica.
