Uršuľa is educated, confident, smart and rational. During her studies she meets and marries a man twenty years her senior. She kills her husband in a way that is part self-defence, part crime of passion. The novel focuses on the time when she is returning from prison, trying to recapture the ordinary civil life and making new friendships. The novel came out in 1987 and was followed by the novel Rubato in 1990.
