Tomáš Forró is the kind of journalist whose determination to provide the most comprehensive account of events drives him right into the epicentre of a conflict. That is what he did in his first book, Donbas – Svadobný apartmán v hoteli vojna (Donbass – A Honeymoon Suite in Hotel War). To write it, he travelled to the conflict-riven territory of eastern Ukraine and gained the trust of people on both sides of the conflict. This, his second book of reportage, tells the story of present-day Venezuela, the country with the world’s largest oil reserves, which in the course of fifteen years has gone from prosperity to total chaos and destitution, forcing millions of people to flee abroad.
