About institution

The SLOVAK FILM INSTITUTE (SFU), established in 1963, member of FIAF and European Film Promotion, is the sole national institution in the field of cinematography. It consists of the National Film Archive and the National Cinematographic Centre. SFU handles producers rights to Slovak films produced by Slovak national studios in 1895 – 1991 and greatly supports their international presentation. The National Cinematographic Centre serves as the national film promotion centre, providing complex information and documentation services related to Slovak cinema, organizing film events in Slovakia and abroad. At the same time, it represents and promotes Slovak films and Slovak filmmakers in the international context.
