Curriculum vitae

Born 14 June 1941 in Banská Bystrica into the family of a tailor. From 1959 to 1964 he studied in the Electro-technical Faculty at the Technical University in Bratislava. He worked as an engineer, then from 1968 to 1971 he was an editor of the magazine Matičné čítanie, from which he was dismissed after the occupation of Czechoslovakia. He was expelled from the Slovak Writers' Union and from official cultural life being prevented from publishing practically until the fall of socialism in 1989. During that era he worked as a tennis court groundsman, warehouseman and stoker. At present he works for Slovak Radio in Banská Bystrica as an editor in the literary department. He died on 15 August 2008 in Banská Bystrica.
