Mila Haugová will perform in Vienna as part of an evening dedicated to the Austrian poet Friederike Mayröcker

The event entitled "räume für notizen: Friederike Mayröcker" will take place on 30 January at 7pm at the Kunsttankstelle Ottakring XVI, Vienna (Grundsteing. 45-47).

The literary evening will include readings and recollections of translation as well as personal encounters between the Slovak poet Mila Haugová and Friederike Mayrὅcker, in addition to performances by the Austrian writer Bodo Hell and the lyricist and classical music composer Sophie Reyer. The tribute to the work of the renowned experimental author Friederike Mayröcker (1924-2021), winner of the Georg Büchner Prize, will be moderated by Renate Pittroff.

Since 2014 (first as a biennial, since 2023 annually), the festival of transmedia poetry "räume für notizen" has presented literary work that combines poetry through the visual and acoustic aspects of language with image and sound in transmedia spaces.

This year's guests are writers and authors who are intensively engaged with Mayröcker's work. Mila Haugová translated selected poems by Friederike Mayröcker's poems under the title Cez mreže môjho srdca (Through the bars of my heart, Slovenský spisovateľ, 1999).

There will also be an accompanying exhibition at the Kunsttankstelle Ottakring and the galerie wechselstrom. The opening will take place on 30 January at 6pm, and it will be on display until 2 February.
