Haugová debuted with the collection Hrdzavá hlina / Rusty Clay in 1980. She worked as an editor in the literary magazine Romboid for ten years, 1986 - 1996. A prolific and respected author, her poems open up spaces for non-visible feelings and relationships, and lecture us on humanity. She has received numerous awards for her literary work and her poems have been translated in many languages. She also translates from English, German and Hungarian. Her most recent book is Z rastlinstva / From the Plant Kingdom, 2021.
