Pavol Rankov reads from his book The Holy Butcher of Samorin in Ulm

After last year's successful readings in Regensburg, Frankfurt am Main and Vienna, Pavol Rankov will present his novel The Holy Butcher of Šamorín on 25 January at 7 p.m. in Ulm.

The publishing house danube books, which published the book in 2022 in a translation by Slávka Rude-Porubská under the title "Der kleine Donaukrieg", is based in this southern German city.

The event is organized by the Danube-Swabia Central Museum (DZM) in Ulm in cooperation with the Slovak Literary Centre and danube books Verlag. An interview with the author will be moderated by the director of the DZM, Tamás Szalai, and German excerpts from the book will be read by Bernd Weltin.

Rankov's gripping political thriller can be seen as a commentary on the latest armed conflicts in Europe, ethnically and religiously motivated civil wars and the mechanisms of their propagation on the internet, including distortions of history and disinformation.
