Jozef Karika's novel The Chasm (Priepasť) is a mystery thriller with elements of psychology and philosophy. Set in the mountains, the story contains references places in the High Tatras, as well as real events and websites. The author depicts a fascinating journey into the darkest depths of our subconscious. The main character, Adam, is a young mountain climber who has been avoiding the mountains since his father's fatal accident. While hiking in the valley Slavkovská, he discovers the body of the dead climber Adrián Klimek, who had filmed the hike and subsequent mysterious fall of Adam’s father. Adam begins investigating an old legend and the many unexplained deaths in the seemingly inconspicuous chasm.
