David Marcin in Brussels

David Marcin will be in Brussels to participate in the international BD Comic Strip Festival, organized by the Brussels-Capital Region from 8 to 10 September 2023.

He will be presenting his new comic book I Learned You Were Alive. He will also present his older works and establish collaborations with international partners.

As part of his stay, he will be the guest of a discussion on comics from Slovakia with Zuzana Droppová. This discussion is the result of the cooperation of the Slovak Literary Centre with the Slovak House in Brussels and the Slovak Book Club in Belgium.

The event will take place in the representative premises of the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic at Avenue Molière 195, Brussels on 7 September 2023 at 6:30 pm.

Zuzana Droppová is a Slovak artist, illustrator and fantasy author living in Brussels. She signs her artworks with the artistic name LaKiRi. David Marcin is an illustrator and author of comics for children, young adults and adults (All Those Worlds; I Learned You Were Alive). He is a co-founder of the civil association KURZY pomimo, which focuses on the development of comics in Slovakia.

While in Brussels, David Marcin's stay will also lead a workshop for primary school children on 9 September titled “How to make your own comics?”

SLC greatly appreciates the cooperation of the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Belgium that led to the realization of this event. We believe that this is the beginning of a fruitful cultural exchange.
