Literary Meeting with Michal Hvorecký in Leipzig

Writer Michal Hvorecký will present his book Tahiti: Utópia on July 4th at 7:30 PM at the Rotorbooks bookstore in Leipzig, Germany. The book was published in German translation by Tropen Verlag. The event will be moderated by translator Stefanie Bose, who works with Slovak and Czech languages.

Tahiti: Utópia explores an alternative history of Slovakia, in which General Milan Rastislav Štefánik also plays a role. How would history unfold if Hungary still existed and Slovaks migrated from Central Europe to the island of Tahiti, where they established a new state? Based on historical facts, the story examines questions of escape, freedom, and modern-day nationalism.

In addition, the meeting with M. Hvorecký will take place on July 5th at 7:00 PM at the Institute of Slavic Studies, Leipzig University.
