Translator Eva Profousová will talk about Katarína Kucbelová's The Bonnet in Zürich

Eva Profousová, translator from Czech and Slovak into German, will present Katarína Kucbelová’s novel Čepiec (The Bonnet) to a Swiss audience. The book was published in 2023 by the Zürich-based publishing house Ink Press in their Tadoma edition of International Literature as Die Haube-Impressionen aus einem Randgebiet.

The event, titled "Unrest at Noon. Eva Profousová, what are you translating right now?" will take place on Wednesday 6 March at 12:15PM at the Zürich Literary House at Limmatquai 62. The interview will be moderated by Isabelle Vonlanthen.

Eva Profousová (1963) lives in Berlin and is one of the most important translators from Czech into German (she has translated the works of Jáchym Topol, Radka Denemarková and Jaroslav Rudiš, among others). In March she is a guest at the Swiss translation house Looren.

The translation of Čepiec is her first translation from Slovak, which is her second mother tongue. During the event in Zürich, she will read excerpts from Čepiec and talk about her current translation projects.

The novel Čepiec (Slovart 2019) was nominated for the prestigious Central European Literary Prize Angelus 2023 and was also among the finalists for the Anasoft Litera Award in 2020.
