Štrasser started out as a literary critic but quickly found his own poetic voice with the collection Podmet (Subject, ). His writing is full of self-irony for the small man, a bit impractical in a world that is too real and disappointing. Štrasser is a multi-faceted poet, intuitive and skillful at the same time; he masters both the high and low poetry genres. He is also an awarded translator, a columnist and the author of various books of interviews with interesting and famous people from the Slovak public life.
