Curriculum vitae

Born 25 May 1914 in Bánovce nad Ondavou. In 1934 - 1935, he studied at the Teacher's Academy in Bratislava, then he became a teacher in Čaňa and Michalovce (1936 - 1945). After the Second World War he started a new career, first as the chief editor of literary radio programmes (1945 - 1948), later as the director of Slovak Radio Košice. In 1951 he moved to Bratislava and worked in various positions: as the chief editor of the Slovenský spisovateľ publishing house (1951 - 1952), as the secretary of the Slovak Writers' Union (1952 - 1954), director of the Slovenský spisovateľ publishing house (1954 - 1963) and in the Slovak Centre for Book Culture (1963 - 1964). From 1964 he concentrated only on writing. Horov died 29 September 1975 in Bratislava.
