Curriculum vitae

Uršuľa Kovalyk is a fiction writer, playwright and social worker. She has worked for a non-profit organisation helping women who were victims of violence, she has worked with the homeless within the organization Notabene and is currently the director of the Theatre without a Home that features homeless and disabled actors. She lives in Bratislava. She has published the collections of short stories Neverné ženy neznášajú vajíčka (Unfaithful Women Hate Eggs, 2002) and Travesty šou (Travesty Show 2004), and the novels Žena zo sekáča (The Second-hand Woman, 2008) and Krasojazdkyňa (The Equestrienne, 2013). The latter has been shortlisted for the Anasoft Litera 2014. Uršuľa Kovalyk’s plays include Vec (The Thing, 2003), Maková panna (The Poppy Seed Spinster, 2004), Krvavý kľúč (The Bloodied Key 2005), Oktagon  (Octagon, 2006), Dia de muertos (2008) and Squat (2009).Her most recent work is the short-stories collection Čisté zviera (Pure Animal, 2018).
