Book excerpts by contemporary authors performed by well-known personalities in unconventional venues: that is Literature Night. The series of public readings aims to increase public interest in contemporary European literature. Many European and non-European cities regularly take part in Literature Night
This year, Literature Night will take place on 20 September. Slovak literature will be represented in Prague at the Královské Vinohrady Library by Peter Balko’s novel Ostrov (The Island). Slovak actor Pavel Smolárik will read excerpts from the book.
The Prague readings are held in 19 locations in Vinohrady with the participation of city districts 2, 3 and 10. In some places the reading will be interpreted into Czech sign language. Admission to all readings is free.
The event is also supported by the Slovak Literary Centre.
