Curriculum vitae

Ondrej Štefánik had planned to make his debut with a novel, but while writing it he began to get tired of the main character, so he took a break. During his sabbatical from writing his novel, he produced the debut short story collection Pštrosí muž (Ostrich Man, 2011). In the end, he got to like the hero of his novel and he finished it. Bezprsté mesto (Fingerless City, 2012), a detective novel with grotesque elements and a wide range of bizarre figures and events made the shortlist of the Anasoft Litera Prize. The local color of contemporary Bratislava, depicted as an impenetrable place defying comprehension, plays a major role in the book. His latest novel Som Paula (I’m Paula, 2016) won Anasoft Litera in 2017. Štefánik lives and works in Bratislava.
