Curriculum vitae

He graduated from the Carnot Lycée in Dijon (1968-1971) where he was enrolled as part of the Czechoslovak section. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University (Department of Romance languages). He was an editor of the Theatre section of the LITA agency. He collaborated with Revue svetovej literatúry. In 1981, he was offered a research fellowship in Paris from the French government from which he has never returned. In Paris, he worked for the State Library (Bibliothèque nationale) at first, later for The House of Poetry (La Maison de la poésie de la Ville de Paris). He has also taught as a lyceum professor. All the while, he has remained a literary critic, a lector in various publishing houses and a translator from Slovak. He was awarded the P.O. Hviezdoslav prize in 2009.
