Róbert Bielik was born in Levice and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. He is a lecturer at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. He is the co-author of the anthology of Slovak spiritual poetry Stratená v ľaliách (Lost in Lilies). Apart from writing poetry, he is also a professional painter and photographer. Karma yoga and Eastern religions, which inspired him during his travels in India and stays in local monasteries, helped him to overcome his difficult artistic beginnings and the feeling of the futility of existence caused by a lack of interest in his work. He seeks to understand life and himself by diminishing physical needs in favor of spiritual renewal.
