Slávka Rude-Porubská (born 1977) lives in Munich. She is the director of the City Library in Dachau. She studies German studies and Journalism at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. After graduation, she was also schooled and received qualification in international cultural management. In 2011, she obtained her PhD. from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in library science. The topic of her doctoral work was cultural and grant police for literary translations in Germany.
She is a literary translator from Slovak into German and from German into Slovak. She is active in organizing literary events, writing reviews and literary science texts, and also in publishing. Aside from her day job, she is also an editor for the monthly LiteraturSeiten München.
In 2007, she participated in a week-long the translation workshop in Literaturhaus München. In 2014, she was part of the project Poesie der Nachbarn – Dichter übersetzen Dichter in the translation residency house in Edenkoben, where Slovakia was a guest. She translated into German two poetry collections of Mila Haugová; and her translations of the poems of Erik Ondrejička, Juraj Kuniak, Erik Jakub Groch, Michal Tall, Dana Podracká, Juraj Briškár and others were published in literaty magazines and anthologies. Together with Rudolf Jurolek, she has translated preložila lyrical texts of Michael Donnhauser into Slovak, and with Monika Riedelová, she has prepared and published an edition of the literary magazine Revue svetovej literatúry, focusig on the inter-cultural literature of German-speaking countries, and translating texts of María Cecillia Barbetta and Feridun Zaimogla.
