Bucolica

Using contemporary language and the knowledge of civilizations, the author sovereignly treads on the ground of an ancient cluster of genres such as bucolic, idyllic and pastoral. The otherworldly, natural scenery of Jurolek's poetry is not an empty backdrop; it is the fulfillment, the meaning, the resolution in the struggle for an internally pure human being. In his quest for a "well-balanced presence," his expressively simple textual structure with recurring motifs lacks neither layers nor internal tension. In addition, his journey towards harmony contains numerous unsettling, minor key tones. Jurolek's bucolic poetry is serious, but it doesn't lack subtle humour or the harshness of the current world. It expresses the Epicurean conception of life against a backdrop of cultural and religious roots. The poetry colleciton Bukolika was awarded the Zlatá vlna Prize 2022.
