Spaces

Etela Farkašová, one of the prominent Slovak authors, builds on earlier texts in Priestori / Spaces and from a new perspective influenced by her life experiences develops her characteristic themes such as lived human time, its continuity and discontinuity, memory and remembering, the process of personal self-creation, becoming oneself (a key concept), as well as the theme of home as a space, which was associated especially with the early years of the author's life.
Farkašová's literary work usually responds to current contemporary issues, in a broader historical and social context she reflects in a fragmentary way on the time of her childhood. In doing so, she searches for the traces left on her self-formation by a specific space and time, specific people and their stories...
What or who determines our identities and their forms, this could also be the question that foreshadows the imaginary motto of the essayistic elements of the prose.
The author may inspire readers to reminisce about their own childhoods and to search for clues in their stories...
