Meet-and-Greet with Slovak Literature

The long-awaited Slovak issue of the Finnish literary and cultural magazine Särö, supported by the SLOLIA Commission, will be published at the beginning of April. Subtitled Views of Slovakia, it brings 96 pages of interesting glimpses of Slovakia to Finland. This publication presenting Slovak literature and visual arts is the largest ever published in Finland.

In the words of translator Mika Laaksonen, who initiated this unique project 3 years ago, it is a unique achievement in Finland. We all hope it only marks the first step and will help open the door for other translations of Slovak literature.

In addition to the Finnish multinational cultural magazine the Särö Literary and Cultural Association also publishes high-quality book publications and organises cultural events.

On 23 April 2024 at 5PM at the Slovak Embassy, a presentation of this important project will take place with the participation of foreign and local guests from publishing houses, literary and magazine representatives, as well as representatives of the compatriot community. Translator Mika Laaksonen and Alexandra Salmela, the Slovak author living in Finland, will attend the event.
